I’ve been to where the willows bend
And seen where Christ was sold.
I’ve even reached the rainbow’s end
And found the crock of gold.

In fact, there isn’t anywhere –
Or nowhere I recall –
I couldn’t say that I’ve been there
If I’ve been there at all.

But now I’m standing in a wood,
And, all around me, birds
Pronounce a thought that’s understood,
Though not expressed in words:

Although you travel near and far,
You’re always right there where you are.
