Sadness (2)

Although it’s quite a hefty dose –
Enough to spoil my day –
I hold the sense of sadness close
To learn its every way.

It points to being set apart
As something very bad,
And, at its core, there beats a heart
Whose echoes drive me mad.

Yet that it seems to come along
Much like a bull that’s bored
Suggests I couldn’t be more wrong
To let myself be gored.

It’s all the more a rotten scam
Since happiness is what I am.
