Young Love

I’m lying with my arm around
The most accomplished girl.
I’m like a diver who has found
A sacred, golden pearl.

And never shall I let her go
Until my dying day
But show her that I love her so
In each and every way.

I never thought that, at my age,
I’d learn to love again;
I thought I’d shuffle off the stage
Like all those unloved men.

Yet here I am, a boy apart,
Who loves his girl with all his heart.
