Questionable Conduct

Whenever there’s a crowd around,
I feel I’m under threat
And look to move to higher ground
As fast as I can get.

I think they’re out to steal my purse
Or else to do me in
Or – what would be a whole lot worse –
To ask me how I’ve been.

It’s all because I’m insecure,
Unstable and naive.
As such, I sit beside the door
To be the first to leave.

And yet I’m neither big nor small
But nothing other than the all.
