I’m getting through the food we bought
Before you left for good.
I guess that means you never thought
A minute that you would.
The pasta doesn’t taste half bad;
The lentils are a treat;
The bread’s the best I’ve ever had –
Such yummy things to eat!
Of course, I could enjoy them more
If you were here to share;
I mean, that’s what we bought them for
When all my shelves were bare.
Well, now they’re empty once again,
Except for almonds and cayenne.
