And, having crawled from there to here,
I’m back where I belong –
The country that I hold most dear,
The lovely land of song.
And, though I missed these parts so much,
I’m glad I went away;
It urged my getting back in touch
And makes me want to stay.
And, though I know I’m here alone,
There’s nothing wrong with that;
Like birds, my hopes have up and flown
At having seen a cat.
But, in their sad and hollow place,
There beats a heart of utmost grace.
