I didn’t always use to be
A doer – not at all!
I’d sit beneath an apple tree
And watch the apples fall;
Or else I’d lie beside a lake,
From dawn till close of day,
And let the ripples break – break – break –
Each in a different way.
The fact that I’m no longer still
But always on the go
Could well suggest I’ve had my fill
Of being deathly slow.
But, whether I am slow or fast,
I live each day as if my last.
