The wound is neither mine nor yours
To close on each’s own;
It’s open like a pair of doors
Obstructed by a stone.
And, not until the stone’s removed,
Can valid healing start
And mental wellness be improved
And gladness fill the heart.
And, on account of what we had,
It makes a lot of sense
To bear in mind its going bad
Won’t count in ages hence.
Unless, of course, time doesn’t heal
The constant aching that we feel.
