Repertoire

At times, I’ve made like Robin Hood,
At other ones, like Job:
I’ve run with outlaws through the wood
And worn a pious robe.

I’ve planned a blow against the Reich
And joined the league of ghosts
And led the miners out on strike
And cursed the Lord of hosts.

And yet, for all I’ve said and done
And all I’ve tried to be,
In truth, I’ve not been anyone,
Except, that is, for me.

And yet, I, too, am but a part
That I’m required to learn by heart.
