I know your silence isn’t just
A thing concerning me,
But, since our love returned to dust,
I’ve felt obliged to see
That something in me isn’t right;
I’m broken/damaged/flawed;
And so I tend to shun the light
And seldom go abroad.
My simple life has gone awry;
I feel such great fatigue;
And yet I know the reason why:
I wasn’t in your league.
If only I’d respected that,
I wouldn’t now be where I’m at.
