I’m moved to take myself away
From all the laughing throng.
Although they might like me to stay,
To do so would be wrong.
I never learned the social mores
So don’t know how to act
And don’t much like to be indoors,
Especially when it’s packed.
My leaving satisfies a yen
To humour all concerned,
And never do I see again
The bridges that I’ve burned.
The thing is, everywhere I go,
I come upon a one I know.
