And, after rain, the sun comes out
And brightens up the place,
And every trace of human doubt
Departs from every face.
The surface of the street’s still slick;
The grass is wet as dew;
And no one’s keen to miss a trick,
Or no one but a few.
And you return the silent gaze
Of everyone you meet
And think about those bygone days
When life was bittersweet
And how it’s very different now
As raindrops drip from every bough.
