Philosophy

It’s not as if you’re like a well-known dish
Where too much salt or pepper spoils the taste;
You could achieve what anyone would wish
Yet still maintain your life had been a waste.

And yet the things that make you into you –
The hopes, desires and disappointments – all! –
Dictate the aim of everything you do,
No matter if that’s settle, rise or fall.

That’s not to say your life’s devoid of worth;
It’s every bit as fresh as any breath.
And yet you’re on a road that starts at birth
And skips or plods along until your death.

And how you take this circumstance on board
Defines the very end you move toward.
