Captivation

So now you feel as if you’re trapped
Inside your age’s cell,
And all your energy’s been sapped,
Your peace of mind, as well.

You long to find one last escape
To free you from this place,
And yet the knives of knowing scrape
That fancy off your face.

And, even when you go outside
To take the evening air,
It’s not as if your pain can hide;
It’s always always there.

That’s how it’s been since time gone by,
Yet no one knows the reason why.
