Seize the Day

You’re sitting in a room with curtains drawn
To keep what heat you treat yourself to in;
You don’t know if it’s midnight, dusk or dawn,
Or if the day’s the best there’s ever been.

And, all the while, the planet’s spinning round
Yet doesn’t move a hair upon your head;
You’re like a one who’s six feet underground…
Well, better shake your torpor off, instead,

And throw depression’s curtains open wide,
And let the sunlight/starlight in your mind!
Or, better yet, run joyfully outside
And leave your lifelong misery behind!

The clocks are running, and it won’t be long
Before the death bell rings out, Dong! Dong! Dong!
