Regret

You wish that you’d become the one
You started out to be –
Your lovely parents’ loving son,
Who graced the family tree.

But all was not the way it seemed:
Before you got too old,
You cursed and bellowed, kicked and screamed –
A horror to behold!

And, every time there came a turn,
You took the hardest way,
As if you were too slow to learn
The lessons of your day.

So now you’re filled with deep regrets,
And life’s as dismal as it gets.
