Rejection

Rejection came as quite a blow,
And you became withdrawn,
Which let the other person know
That you were such a yawn;

She hadn’t ventured into this
To have to deal with that;
She’d hoped to find a sense of bliss,
But everything fell flat.

And so she made the choice she did
To leave it all behind.
You didn’t even make a bid
To try to change her mind;

You nursed your broken heart, instead,
And brooded over what she’d said.
