Duality (2)

When consciousness broke into two,
The universe began
And instantaneously grew
With neither goal nor plan.

At once, there were both night and day
Where neither’d been before,
And distance stretched in every way
From consciousness’s core.

And time began its anxious stroll,
Which hasn’t finished yet,
And that caused body, mind and soul
To fill us with regret.

And, ever since, there’s been this yen
That consciousness be one again.
