Perfection

Although it doesn’t look that way at first,
This fucked-up world’s got not one single flaw.
Though babies die of AIDS, disease and thirst,
Life’s faultlessness commands the greatest awe.

It’s just that understanding’s turned its back
On what it means to simply be alive.
Instead, it focuses on fear and lack
And strives with all its muscle to “survive”.

But, all throughout the anguish, there’s a voice
That stills the turmoil with a heartfelt prayer
And gifts to all the reason to rejoice
And know that there’s no sorrow anywhere.

And yet it’s hard to see the world this way
When turning on the news from day to day.
