And what I have is not a fault
But something whole, complete –
As lovely as the taste of salt,
At once both sour and sweet.
It ranges over endless plains
As freely as a herd
And breaks the hold of earthly chains
Like some high-flying bird.
It’s at the heart of every tree
And centres every night
And flits across the cosmic sea
Like joyous points of light.
Beyond its bounds, there’s nothing more;
It’s all life’s ever got in store.
