And emptiness is all around
And in the heart of you.
It’s every colour, shape and sound;
Each thought and feeling, too;
And everybody rich or poor,
Intelligent or not,
Who’s school in what they’re living for
Or hasn’t mastered squat.
And, though you try to fill the void
With people, places, things,
It’s not as if you’ve once enjoyed
The sense fulfilment brings.
And so you spit on emptiness,
But why is anybody’s guess.
