Elderliness

My mind’s as still as anything,
And yet I still live on.
I’m like an old and rusty spring
Whose springiness has gone.

As such, I’m not myself at all
But someone else, instead;
I’m trapped inside an inch-high wall,
And cobwebs fill my head.

I never thought I’d come to this
But shine my whole life through,
And so I’m left to reminisce
On times that I once knew.

Yet I suppose I should be glad
To look back on the life I’ve had.
