Awareness

If this indeed is who I am,
Then what of whom I’m not?
I’m not some baby in its pram
Or infant in its cot.

I’m not a slow and awkward youth
Or newly married man,
Nor yet a sage who seeks the truth
Or corpse that never can.

Instead, I’m that which knows I know –
Aware that I’m aware.
Regardless where I’m wont to go,
My self’s already there.

But what does that imply for me?
I needn’t try but simply be.
