Loss

Some good advice to one who grieves
About the loss of this or that
Is take a walk through fallen leaves
To see where “loss” is truly at.

It’s not that “all things pass away”,
Much less “life’s not worth living for”;
There’s beauty in the vast array
Of colours on the forest floor.

Red, orange, yellow, grey and brown
Complete the autumn woodland scene,
And all thanks to the falling down
Of countless shades of pleasant green.

Now, through the trees, there comes a deer.
It isn’t that it’s lost; it’s here.
