Paradise

The ice is slowly melting now,
And all the trees are dripping.
I’ve tied my body to a bough
But feel the knot is slipping.

The corpses floating in the lake
Among the lotus flowers
Are eaten by a yellow snake;
Sometimes, it feeds for hours.

And all the trunks of fallen trees
Are covered in bright mosses,
And those who fear their enemies
Tattoo their cheeks with crosses.

Although this is a paradise,
That doesn’t mean it’s only “nice”.
