On the table next to me,
The candle flickers off and on,
As if to try to make me see
Another moment’s come and gone.
But, rather than review the past
Or look towards what’s up ahead,
I’m ages old and cosmos vast,
And focus on the now, instead.
And there’s no better place I know
Than lying in the arms of Truth –
A fact which only goes to show
How far I’ve travelled since my youth.
Then, self-esteem would not allow
That there was such a thing as now.
