I used to think the world would end in war
But never stopped to ask if this was true.
I opened up my fallout shelter’s door
And, having stepped inside, just pulled it to.
I spent my days in darkness, fear and doubt
And wondered when the war would finally start
But, seeing as it didn’t, ventured out
And saw a sight which overcame my heart.
The world had changed in countless different ways,
But neither for the better nor the worse.
I laughed to think the world were set ablaze
And felt my fear of all-out war disperse.
Now, even if a war does come around,
Here’s one who won’t be going underground.
