Life’s been on my mind,
All summer afternoon.
Now evening falls, I find
The corners of the moon
Are turned up in a smile,
As much as if to say,
It’s time to pause a while;
Don’t think your life away.
As if a thunderbolt
Has crackled through the air,
I catch on with a jolt,
Aware that I’m aware:
Life’s what’s in front of me,
Not what it’s thought to be.
