The candle that you gave to me
Has burnt down to a stump,
But not that you’re around to see
The light source bend and slump.
You broke off our relationship
When I least hoped you’d do;
Depression had me in its grip,
But what was that to you?
You said you couldn’t stand to stay
With such a furrowed brow.
Despite the fact you went away,
I’m grateful to you now.
I took your leaving as a sign,
And, since then, I’ve been feeling fine.
