Misunderstood by all my peers,
If I were offered any choice,
At no point in a million years
Would I consent to lose my voice.
It’s all I’ve got that’s truly mine –
As much a part of me as me –
At once both mortal and divine,
As boundless as the cosmic sea.
And, though it’s never coined a word,
In every way, it’s quite unique;
The wisest things it says are heard
When too amazed to even speak.
No matter if it’s day or night,
My voice emits the holy light.
