Too-many-people stresses me;
I’m like some cornered beast.
And, down the years, my need to flee
Has gradually increased.
It isn’t that I’m haughty, though,
But like to be alone,
And so I’m careful not to go
To places crowds are prone.
Perhaps it’s freakish to avoid
The rest of humankind,
But no one needs to be annoyed
Or think I’ve lost my mind.
My conduct isn’t meant to hurt;
It’s “normal” for an introvert.
