Mediation (2)

And what with all the inner strife
And all the things I’ve come to hate,
I’ve reached a certain point in life
I only want to meditate  –

To sit and let attention sink
Back into its unchanging source,
And not to always have to think
About my often wayward course.

And yet it seems to miss the point
To turn my back on what’s unreal –
As if its being out of joint
Were consciousness’s true ideal.

And so I face the world at large
And keep in mind its hefty charge.
