Change

No more am I the one I was –
The fool too proud to learn,
Who switched the light off just because
And let the city burn;

Who banged a fencepost in the earth
Till it was out of sight
And sold the stars for all they’re worth,
Though none of them were bright.

My life belongs to knowing now,
And there’s no harm in that.
I sit beneath a leafy bough
Where wisdom’s always sat.

Although I might seem strange to you,
You’re welcome to your point of view.
