Jupiter

The light I saw so bright and low
Was not a chopper or a plane,
Nor yet some hostile UFO
Or beacon on a builders’ crane,

But Jupiter! Ten times the size
Of our enormous planet, Earth;
It stood there in the eastern skies,
Much like the star at Jesus’ birth.

And yet, for all that I was filled
With joy at seeing what I saw,
My merriment was quickly stilled
By such a massive sense of awe:

Although I know a thing or two,
What counts is knowing that I do.
