Paradise (2)

It’s true enough; there’s something more
To paradise than meets the eye.
But don’t expect some golden shore
Or safe abode behind the sky.

The light of heaven shines within
The objects in the here and now:
A stainless-steel, glass-headed pin,
Each piece of fruit on every bough

And person that you chance upon,
Regardless how they seem to you;
It could be that their minds have gone
Or sparkle in the morning dew.

So learn to see like those blind seers;
The truth’s what is, not what appears.
