This shell I’m in shall, one day, crack
And land upon the heap
Of those for whom there’s no way back
From vast, eternal sleep.
And, on that day, there shall arise
The greatest of all fates,
And I shall see with my own eyes
The gleam of heaven’s gates.
And, in that instant, I shall know
That’s how it’s always been;
It all comes down to letting go
What you’ve been holding in.
And then my soul shall draw a breath
That’s all the sweeter for my death.
