Consciousness

I’m standing on an ancient hill
That’s standing in a lake,
And both of us remain quite still,
Although the Earth does quake.

From where I am, I see the sea
Reflecting shards of light,
And everything’s as it should be,
By day as well as night.

And here and there are everywhere
And nowhere, so it seems.
And, since the wind’s comprised of air,
Around my head, it streams.

I might have left the world behind,
But that was only in my mind.
