Identity

There’s someone here who looks like me,
Regardless of the skin they’re in,
Their gender or ethnicity,
Of if their face is fat or thin.

There’s so much more to what appears
Than that that’s on the surface plane,
As what goes on between the ears
Is more than what’s known as “the brain”.

In fact, it isn’t that we look
As much alike as peas in a pod
Or pages in an empty book;
Instead, we’re both at one with God.

Although you mightn’t think it’s true,
You’re one with me; I’m one with you.
