The Actor

I simply couldn’t say
Where acting starts and ends;
I’m starring in a play
With family and friends.

I give the loving son,
Whenever Mother calls,
And feign I’m having fun
Until the curtain falls.

I hurry to the aid
Of every friend of mine
But shrink back in the shade
When I forget a line.

It’s true the world’s a stage;
The prompter turns the page.
