Of what is striking beauty made
If not the will of God?
To answer “flesh” or “light and shade”
Is nothing short of odd.
And yet it isn’t just the fair
That have God’s will to thank;
Its evidence is also there
In both the plump and lank.
For what would God’s will even be
If it were somehow curbed?
Above all, it would not be free
But frightened and perturbed.
If beautiful or not at all,
The will of God has made the call.
