And every shining face I see
Reminds me you’re the one
Who lit a fire inside of me
As bright as any sun.
You gave me shelter, kept me warm
And brought me food to eat.
And, even through the darkest storm,
You kept me on my feet.
But that was in the distant past
When giants roamed the land.
I didn’t know it wouldn’t last,
But now I understand:
It isn’t that you failed somehow;
It’s up to me alone, though, now.
