Light

All night, my body was awash
With limpid, liquid light;
I lay awake and felt it slosh
From right to left to right.

I recognised my lack of sleep
But paid it little mind;
Instead, I hurtled through the deep
Where time and space unwind.

Though no more than a tiny spark,
I shone to match the sun.
And, though surrounded by the dark,
I felt we were at one.

And, ever since, I’ve understood
That consciousness is something good.
