Geese

What heard for all the world to me
As if some children were in pain
Turned out to be a flying “V”
Of calling geese above the plain.

I took a photo with my phone
And was about to send it you,
When, all at once, I felt alone;
You wouldn’t answer me, I knew.

There was a time it spoiled my day
To think about my “sorry plight”.
Instead, I put my phone away
And went on watching birds in flight.

And, when at last the geese were gone,
I started walking further on.
