It’s not a matter of great greed
Or anything unpleasant,
But, in the future, I shall need
More money than at present.
I’m set to buy a house of stone
To live in when I’m older,
And so I’ve taken out a loan
I hope that I can shoulder.
That’s why I’ve got a second job
And could well use another;
At least I’m not a lazy slob
Like such-and-such’s brother.
He lined his nest in distant youth
While I was contemplating truth.
