Awareness (3)

And, when it rained the hardest rain,
Awareness kept me dry
And took away the very pain
That kicked me in the eye.

And, when my troubles knocked me down,
Awareness picked me up,
And, though I thought I’m bound to drown,
It handed me a cup.

But, through it all, I never learnt,
No matter how I tried,
And so it was each day I burnt
And turned to ash inside.

And, even now, although I know,
I lose the way I’m meant to go.
