Secretiveness

I’m loath to draw attention
To either lack or skill
So wouldn’t think to mention
My being fairly ill.

I’m like a one who battles
Avoiding taking breaks
Although their rib-cage rattles
And every muscles aches.

I must have learned the danger
Of people long ago,
So neither friend nor stranger
Is ever first to know.

And yet there is a person
I’ll tell if symptoms worsen
