I’ve always been a soulful one
Who learned to graft and grind
And never had a moment’s fun
Or paid it any mind.

You see, I come from long ago
Where living on the fly
Was not a thing I got to know,
So pleasure passed me by.

Yet now I wonder what I missed –
The friends I never had,
That special one I could have kissed…
It’s not as if I’m glad…

I guess I could engage them now,
But I’m afraid I don’t know how.
