Love and Friendship

Who would have thought the sun would set
On such a love as ours,
Which, from the very day we met,
Was blessed with special powers?

It span the Earth the other way
And set the land in motion
And turned the nighttime into day
And pacified the ocean.

And yet, for all our passion’s strength,
It weakened all the faster.
And each attempt to boost its length
Was met with fresh disaster.

Yet, where the path of lovers ends,
There starts the one of best of friends.
