Before we met, I sensed you’d turned
A corner in your mind,
And all the bridges that you’d burned
Were better left behind.

You’d quit a job which took a chip
Out of you every day
And ended a relationship
In which you couldn’t stay.

And, though I’m loath to blow my horn,
I think that meeting me
Fulfilled the dream why you were born,
Though you may disagree.

What’s more important than my view
Is what existence means to you.
