Consciousness (2)

And all the things that man thinks up
To pass the time of day –
Each office, goal and golden cup –
Shall quickly pass away.

And, in their place, shall be a hole,
As large as large can be,
Which swallows both the mind and soul
And likewise you and me.

But consciousness is evermore,
Without an end or start;
It’s at the core of every core
And part of every part.

And it’s the sum of what we are.
The greatest thing of all by far.
